Dear Park Avenue Synagogue Community,
It is an honor to write to you today, my first day as Executive Director. I am thrilled to join the staff of this exceptional congregation, and I am committed to building on all that Park Avenue Synagogue offers so that we can reach even greater heights in advancing our mission to inspire, educate, and support our membership towards living passion-filled Jewish lives. I look forward to partnering with Rabbi Cosgrove, the clergy and educators, and the staff who support them, as well as with the lay leaders, in doing so. During its almost 140-year history, Park Avenue Synagogue has always exemplified the possibilities of synagogue life in America. I look forward to working with each of you to write the next chapter.
As I explored the possibility of becoming Executive Director, I quickly developed an appreciation for just how important PAS is in the lives of our membership – in joys and sorrows, through all of life’s transitions. As we go through this transition, let us do so together, remaining constant to our mission of creating a kehillah kedoshah, a sacred community.
Speaking of community, throughout the interview process, the warmth and strength of this kehillah drew me in. I can already feel that this warmth and strength will be an ever-present source of inspiration and support.
I hope to soon see every one of you in person as we continue to emerge from the pandemic. In the meantime, reach out and introduce yourself when you can. I look forward to meeting you!
