We are grateful for a fantastic year of virtual learning together! Looking ahead to the 2021–2022 school year, we invite all rising 8–12th graders to enroll in the Rabbi Judah Nadich High School (RJNHS) Teen Classes. For this next school year, we are excited to provide the following options for classes led by Rabbi Ethan Witkovsky and Rachel Sher, our new Director of Youth Programming and Engagement. It is our hope that our learning will be in person should the COVID-19 situation continue to improve and remain stable. You will notice that Scholars Circle now includes learning for Grades 10 through 12. We are excited to explore new models of learning together.
Applied Judaism for 2021 & Beyond
Rabbi Witkovsky, Rachel Sher, and Friends
Wed / Weekly / Oct 13–May 18 / 6:00–6:45 pm
Gather with your PAS peers for a weekly class on Jewish community and its intersections with the world around us. This year (2021–2022), we will focus on these crossovers and their relationship to anti-Semitism, diversity, and Israel. We are delighted that Pauline Zablow will continue as part of this educational team.
Rabbi Witkovsky and Guest Presenters
Wed / Biweekly / Oct 13–May 18 / 7:00–7:45 pm
Dive into Jewish theology and philosophy and how it relates to current events in our ever-changing world. These hot topics — including racial injustice, social change, and other issues of the moment — will challenge you and encourage you to look at multiple viewpoints. We will explore them through the Mishnah, the first compilation of Jewish law, and contemporary sources. Explore these topics with special guests, members of the clergy, and other experts.
Learning is a lifelong joy. Teens meet with their peers, the PAS rabbis and special guests to talk about the world today through a Jewish lens. We have classes for teens from grades 8–12.
Tzelem is a monthly virtual space for transgender, gender non-conforming, and LGBTQ+ teens to make friends throughout NYC and explore identity, and more.
