We celebrate our long-standing relationship with UJA-Federation of NY with our annual UJA Shabbat, featuring remarks from guest speaker Danielle Butin, Founder and CEO of the Afya Foundation. The Afya Foundation helps source and deliver urgently needed humanitarian and medical supplies to countries around the world. Since 2007, Afya has shipped over 350 40-foot containers packed with recovered humanitarian and medical supplies to more than 80 countries. Hear Butin’s remarks and learn how UJA supports Afya’s work during services.
Danielle Butin is the founder and CEO of the Afya Foundation. The New York State Senate selected her as a Woman of Distinction in 2014; the Voices of African Mothers and the Clinton Foundation have recognized her for her Ebola relief efforts in Sierra Leone; and she received the Brava Smart CEO Award in 2015. She holds a B.S. in occupational therapy from New York University and a master’s in public health with a specialization in geriatrics and gerontology from Columbia University.
