Shabbat Shalom from Russia!
Shabbat Shalom from Moscow!
Bus 147 got off to an amazing start – well, actually, an early start – as we began our Israel adventure at 5:30 am on May 31 when we landed at Ben Gurion Airport. From there we had a full and meaningful day.
We kicked off our trip on the beach at Caesarea with an opening ceremony (which of course included some ice breakers). We then went rappelling down Mount Carmel – no easy feat, but we immediately employed our teamwork and community skills to encourage everyone to get down safely. We ended the day at our beautiful hotel overlooking the Kinneret with dinner, more ice breakers, and a recap of the day. We then all got a great night’s sleep and took on day 2 with much more energy and a bit less jet lag!
Tomorrow, on to Jerusalem. More to come soon!
Shalom from Pam Slifer and Rabbi Ethan Witkovsky, happy to be staffing the trip!
What an amazing week! We began with a tour up north – the Golan, Tzfat, and Tiberias – before heading down to Jerusalem last night. Today we visited the Davidson Center, the Kotel and Machane Yehudah. (All in 100 degree heat!) Now it is time to cool down and get ready for a beautiful Shabbat in Jerusalem before continuing our journey south to the Negev.
We have bonded as a group, welcomed Israeli students and soldiers into our traveling community, and engaged with the history and the future of our people. All while having a great time!
Shabbat shalom from the Holy Land!
Rabbi Witkovsky, Pam Slifer, and all of Bus 147
