JDAIM 2020
During Jewish Disability Awareness and Inclusion Month in February, PAS will turn attention to the sometimes hidden disabilities of mental illness and addiction.
Over the summer the Congregational School has been fortunate to have two charismatic and hard-working interns, Emily and Justin. They came to PAS through Adaptations, a program run by the JCC Manhattan that provides services for adults who have developmental and/or learning disabilities and a high level of independence. The internship is part of the Just One Job initiative, which pairs participants with work opportunities with the hope of future permanent employment.
Emily and Justin have been an instrumental part of the CS team as we prepare for the move to the Lifelong Learning Center in mid-August. They have assisted with a detailed inventory of our supplies, organized art materials, packed boxes, shredded documents, and helped prepare materials for next month’s teacher orientation and High Holiday programming.
We have loved hosting Emily and Justin and are grateful for their work. If you think you or your employer might provide a supportive workplace for Just One Job participants, please visit Just One Job to learn more.
