Fri / Jan 28 / 7:15 pm / 87th Street and Online
Dr. Deborah Lipstadt
Antisemitism has been called “the oldest hatred,” yet many people aren’t sure exactly what it is. Dr. Deborah Lipstadt, a world-renowned scholar of antisemitism and the Holocaust, walks us through essential questions to better understand the history and current forms of this intolerance. How is it the same as other prejudices? How is it unique? What is the difference between criticism of Israel and antisemitism? And, most importantly, why and how should we fight this prejudice?

Hatred on Trial: Justice in Charlottesville and Beyond
Sat / Jan 29 / 12:00 pm / 87th Street and Online
Alan Levine and Diane D’Costa
This past fall, plaintiffs injured during the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, VA took many of the white supremacists involved to trial. The jury ultimately found the defendants responsible for substantive state offenses and liable for millions in damages. Hear two key perspectives on this case: our own former Chairman Alan Levine, one of the trial lawyers who built and tried the plaintiffs’ case, and Diane D’Costa, a witness who experienced the violence firsthand. Our panel will discuss the trial’s key moments, outcome, and impact on continuing to fight against antisemitism, white supremacy, and all forms of hate.
