PAS made history on Sunday, December 8 with the Rededication of our 87th Street building – a once-in-a-generation event attended by more than 1,350 congregants, community faith leaders, and friends.
The festivities opened with a video celebrating Park Avenue Synagogue’s storied history. The program featured remarks by John Hess, Honorary Capital Campaign Co-chair; Marc Becker, Chairman of the Board; and Rabbi Cosgrove. Cantor Schwartz and Cantor Brook performed “Home,” a song written by Noah Aronson and Abigail Pogrebin in honor of this occasion. President Natalie Barth read a Proclamation honoring PAS from the City of New York and signed by City Council Member Keith Powers. Prior PAS Board Chairmen attended as well as Honorary Capital Campaign Co-chairs Leon Black and David Simon. Also celebrating were Rabbi Emeritus David Lincoln and Cantor Emeritus David Lefkowitz, as well as His Eminence, Timothy Cardinal Dolan Catholic Archbishop of New York.

Thank you again to our entire community for your tremendous support of our six-year capital campaign, A Synagogue in Action: Building the Future, which was made possible by the participation of 97% of our community.
Rabbi Cosgrove marked the significance of the occasion, saying: “Hanukkah means ‘rededication,’ and so it was time to rededicate not just a building but the spiritual architecture of our community as a house of prayer, a house of community, and a house of learning.”
Yasher koach to the entire community for our rededication to core Jewish values throughout the fall! Remember to light your commemorative candles on the last night of Hanukkah to reflect on the warmth of our community and the promise of our new campus!
