In the US and worldwide, millions of girls and women around the world face an end to their education and career advancement because of stigma surrounding menstruation and lack of access to safe and clean products. Award winning filmmaker Melissa Berton and best-selling author Anita Diamant will share stories of how the Pad Project, and organization initiated by Berton's Oscar-winning film and fueled by Diamant's companion book of the same name, Period. End of Sentence., collaborates with local communities to build agency, education, and opportunity, all toward a future when “a period should end a sentence, not a girl’s education.”
Melissa Berton is an educator, Academy Award-winning producer of the documentary short Period. End of Sentence., and the founder of the Pad Project.
Anita Diamant is a prolific writer of fiction and nonfiction, including five guidebooks to contemporary Jewish life, and the New York Times best-selling novel The Red Tent.
