Gifts to the needy Matanot la’evyonim

On Purim, it is a mitzvah to perform the commandment of matanot l’evyonim (gifts to the needy). This year, PAS has come up with a way for you to perform two of these mitzvot – giving food gifts to friends and helping the needy – at the same time.

For $72, you can send a box of 16 kosher chocolate truffles to family or friends while also making a meaningful donation to two important causes:  The New York Common Pantry, which provides food and support services to New Yorkers in need, and Darca Schools, which advocates for equal educational opportunities for youth in Israel’s underserved communities.

In the coming weeks, we’ll share more opportunities for you to continue supporting these organizations in impactful ways

Purim Spiel 5786 Hamantaschen: 3 Tales from the Megilah

Mon / Mar 2 / 6:30 pm / 87th Street

We revisit the story of Purim, as told in the Megilah, in a trio of tales:

  • The tale of a disco queen who escapes the hustle of palace life on the dance floor, hoping to save her people with style, sequins, and soul.
  • The tale of a street kid who finds her voice when she is transformed into a royal sensation fit for the king's court.
  • The tale of an existentially conflicted queen in a "to be, or not to be" Shakespearean drama that sounds much like the 1960s as the 1690s.

Don a costume, grab a grogger, and get transported across the pond with this dramatic trio of tales.
