Meir Ariel (1942–1999) was known as one of the more poetic Israeli songwriters of his generation. One lyric, which starts with a familiar Hebrew phrase, is grateful and hopeful, yet filled with mystical images: “Fate, fate comes toward us, and you smile at me from within sleep. It will be good for us; better than good, very good.”
