Shabbat, Music

One of the blessings of this pandemic has been our increased connection with Jews around the world through technology. Last spring, we received a note from Ziona Brotleit, a new remote participant in our Livestream services and the granddaughter of Cantor Moshe Koussewitzky, one of the most celebrated cantors of all time. Cantor Schwartz interviewed Brotleit before the holidays and heard about her special relationship with her grandfather. As tribute to this heartwarming encounter, we’ve recreated the original long-lost musical score of the Yom Kippur prayer Rahamono, as sung by Cantor Koussewitzky, which brought tears of remembrance and joy.

Can you think of a way to pass down your traditions from generation to generation? Wishing you a Shabbat shalom.

Orchestration: Cantor Joseph Ness
