Music, Shabbat

In an anguished time, we sing of taking delight from keeping Shabbat. Interestingly, the reverse is also true: the rhythm of this musical setting of a joyful prayer is tinged with melancholy. Perhaps that alloy is what makes deep joy more powerful than happiness – the knowledge that the Jewish people are always in both delight and despair. Wishing you a Shabbat Shalom.
