Lunch & Learn

On April 5, 1964, James Farmer, the national director of the Congress for Racial Equality, spoke at PAS on the topic “Contemporary Moral Issues.” His lecture, presented more than 55 years ago, resonates today as we continue to confront inequities in our society. Rabbi Ethan Witkovsky leads this Lunch and Learn session about social justice issues confronted by PAS congregants in the 1960s, as well as today.
The Park Avenue Synagogue archives – which contain more than 100 years of historical records – have been catalogued by the archivists at the Library of the Jewish Theological Seminary and are now housed permanently at JTS. This collaboration between our institutions allows PAS’s history to be preserved and accessed by congregants, clergy, scholars, and students.
