We can appreciate the sense of urgency in this prayer not only on the High Holidays but year-round. We ask to be strengthened, to be blessed, to be raised up, to be well, to be in the book of life, to be heard, to be supported – and not just any time, but hayom, today. May we bring about these good things in the world, and not far in the future, but today.
