Seventh-grade families get a private tour of the Museum of Jewish Heritage along with the opportunity to hear from Michelle Ezer, the daughter of Holocaust survivors Markus Safirstein and Margot Ilsberg Safirstein. Markus was born in 1920 in Berlin, Germany, and was deported to Auschwitz on April 19, 1943. He is the only member of his family to survive. Margot is a Kindertransport survivor. Markus and Margot were teens together in Berlin, and after the war Markus got back in touch with Margot. They got married, immigrated to the United States, and the rest is history.
