Featuring a new current-events topic each week, each class will provide a rich cultural and historical perspective with a focus on the historical background of the issue, the cultural translation of Israeli perspectives around it, and discussion of possible outcomes and ramifications.

Michal Abramoff was born in NYC and made aliyah to Israel with her family at a young age. After completing her BA in Psychology, Sociology, and Anthropology from Tel Aviv University, she spent two years as a Shlichah (Israel emissary) to the Jewish community of greater Hartford, CT. Upon returning to Israel, Michal moved to Jerusalem and received a Master's degree in Jewish education through the advanced program in pluralistic Jewish education at Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR)/Jerusalem, in cooperation with the Melton Center for Jewish Education at the Hebrew University. Michal also served as the Upper East Side Shlichah from 2022-2025. She is currently working on her PHD at JTS in Jewish Education.
