Mitzvah Day Activities
Blue Card
Create winter care packages for clients of The Blue Card, which provides financial help to Holocaust survivors.
Card Decorating
Decorate cards for care packages.
Chabad House Bowery
Create Hanukkah packages for Jewish college students in New York City.
Coalition for the Homeless
Make sandwiches and assemble lunch bags for clients of the Coalition for the Homeless.
Coin Sorting
Coins collected will benefit the Teen Food Pantry and the Clergy Welfare Fund.
Days for Girls
Create reusable, sustainable menstrual care kits for clients of Days for Girls, which works to eliminate the stigma and limitations associated with menstruation.
East Harlem WIN
Create personal-care bags for New York women.
Jewish Board
Create care packages for clients of The Jewish Board, which provides integrated mental health and social services to New Yorkers. (Literacy care packages for children, Toiletry bags for adults)
Lemonade Stand
Run by the Congregational School PA and students, the sale benefits the Clergy Welfare Fund.
Met Council
Create dental hygiene kits for elderly clients of Met Council, which fights poverty and helps clients move from crisis to self-sufficiency.
Midnight Run
Drop off new or gently used winter clothing for adults (large coats, hats and gloves are most needed) for PAS teens to distribute to New Yorkers on the street.
Mitzvah Day Cafe
Refuel with a snack between Mitzvah Day projects.
Project Ezra
Create care packages for clients of Project Ezra, which helps the frail Jewish elderly live with dignity, providing companionship and community on NYC’s Lower East Side.
Thanksgiving Meal Packing
Help PAS teens package food for their annual pre-Thanksgiving food distribution.
Youth Renewal Fund
Make beaded bracelets with uplifting messages and decorate pencil cases for children in Israel with Youth Renewal Fund, which helps provide quality education to students in low-income communities across Israel.
Off-Site Programming
Playground Cleanup
Meet in the lobby at 1:00 pm to help the NYC Parks Department with a cleanup at a nearby playground.

Who Was Vicki K. Wimpfheimer?
Vicki K. Wimpfheimer (1913–2003) grew up in New York City. She taught nursery school at Hudson Guild Settlement House and married Dr. Seymour Wimpfheimer in 1936. Inspired by Park Avenue Synagogue’s Rabbi Milton Steinberg, the couple was dedicated and active in all aspects of synagogue life, which also involved their five children.
