Jonathan Sarna is the Joseph H. & Belle R. Braun Professor of American Jewish History at Brandeis University. He is also the past president of the Association for Jewish Studies and chief historian of the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History in Philadelphia. He is author or editor of more than 30 books on American Jewish history and life.
