Sierra Jade Fox (she/her) is a fourth-year cantorial student at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion’s Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music. Before beginning her cantorial studies, she served as a soloist and ensemble singer with a vast number of sacred and secular choirs in the Greater Philadelphia area, while also touring throughout the United States, Europe, and South America. Sierra graduated Summa Cum Laude from Syracuse University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music with majors in Vocal Performance and Religion and Society.
While living in Philadelphia, she worked as a staff singer and cantorial soloist at Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel in Elkins Park, and has served the past two years as the Student Cantor at Temple Emanuel of South Hills in Pittsburgh. Sierra is a Tisch-Star Fellow and recipient of the Lee Gura Memorial Prize for Special Aptitude and Interest in Synagogue Choral Music, the Cantor Norman Belink Award for Excellence in Reform Workshop, and the Joyce Rosenzweig Prize for Creativity in Worship Music. She is incredibly excited to be joining the amazing team and congregation of Park Avenue Synagogue!
