– Plato, Ancient Greek philosopher
Pamela B. Schwartz joined PAS as Director of the Penn Family Early Childhood Center in July, 2014. As Director, her mission is to move the Penn Family ECC from strength to strength by incorporating best practices in early childhood education. Before coming to PAS, Pamela was the learning specialist in the early childhood division of the Abraham Joshua Heschel School for seven years; before that, she taught first grade at the Heschel School for seven years. Pamela began her teaching career as a Teaching Associate at the Town School. She holds a BA from Columbia College of Columbia University, with a concentration in psychology, and an MA from Columbia Teachers College, where she focused on learning differences.
Pamela’s educational philosophy embraces an inclusive model, rooted in play, that respects the divine spark within each child. She believes that every individual has infinite potential to learn. She leads with the tenet that children construct their learning most optimally when they have the agency to question and the freedom to wonder.
