The Edmond de Rothschild Library is a lending library where PAS members may borrow books and DVDs. The library has a rich collection of books on the Bible, holidays, theology, guides to Jewish living, and Israel, as well as fiction, poetry, and short stories, for both adults and children.

The library is a haven where congregants of all ages learn Torah, read the daily news, surf the web, chat in Yiddish, listen to cantorial gems, or play with Hebrew alphabet blocks. You can join one of the classes that meets in the library, read a board book to your toddler, visit Torah study sites on the Internet, or borrow a book (or DVD) to read (or view) at home. Library Director Marga Hirsch can help you find your next leisure read, research a knotty question, interlibrary-loan a book from another library, or choose a Jewish book for your child or grandchild.

Library Hours

Marga is generally in the library at other times as well – feel free to stop by with questions or for book recommendations! When she is not there, follow the posted instructions on how to check out a book or DVD.

Every Shabbat, look for the book basket just outside the sanctuary with Jewish books for children of all ages to look at while sitting quietly in their seats in the synagogue. Please return the books to the basket after services so that others may read them next week.
