Gallery Opening: Behind Ben-Amun | The Artful World of Isaac Manevitz

Behind Ben-Amun | The Artful World of Isaac Manevitz

Opening March 9 and continuing through April

This unusual exhibition offers a rare opportunity to learn about the process behind exquisite treasures that you have likely admired in fashion magazines. Isaac Manevitz is an Egyptian Jew, the son of generations of jewelers, who fled Egypt around 1960. His wife Regina is the daughter of Holocaust survivors who left Poland around 1967. The couple met and married in New York City and went on to build a company together as well as a family. Isaac designs jewelry for his own well known “Ben Amun” line as well as for many of the top fashion designers in America. His opulent, exotic pieces have been worn by the most fashionable of celebrities, from Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis to Kate Moss and Rihanna.

This exhibition features Isaac’s art jewelry – one-of-a-kind pieces that reflect his creativity as a sculptor, as well as wooden sculptures and ceramic work that has inspired his wearable art. The accompanying text panels and photos describe Isaac's fascinating process, from preliminary drawings and designs to model-making to fabrication. Isaac has also prepared a limited edition of jewelry for PAS that will be for sale.
