SOCIAL WORK SUPPORT FOR PAS SENIORS, FAMILIES AND THEIR CAREGIVERS

DOROT social worker Yael Kornfeld is available to work with seniors and caregivers of the PAS community. Among the many programs that DOROT offers to seniors are companionship, shopping assistance, an escort to medical appointments, and a wellness program at the DOROT facility. Yael is available to meet with both seniors and caregivers at PAS or in their homes, either during her scheduled hours at the synagogue or at other times by appointment.

Arona Berow, LMSW, is available to the Park Avenue Synagogue community through the Partners in Caring (PIC) program facilitated by Jewish Board and funded by UJA‐Federation of New York. Arona is available to meet with individuals, families, and/or groups to discuss a wide range of topics, including, but not limited to, loss and bereavement, acute and chronic illness, crisis management, expected and unexpected professional and personal transitions (e.g., job loss, divorce, marriage, birth, adoption, caregiving), addiction and recovery, and many other types of mental health challenges. Arona is knowledgeable on a wide range of resources and will be able to put you in touch with additional resources available through the Jewish Board as well as other agencies in the area.
Arona is committed to destigmatizing and normalizing mental health issues, and she is eager to expand Park Avenue Synagogue’s programming to serve our members needs.
