Musical Kabbalat Shabbat Service with Cantor Daniel Mutlu

Cantor Daniel Mutlu is cantor at Temple Beth Israel, a 1700-member Reform congregation in Houston. Cantor Mutlu received a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston in 2001. He then earned a Masters in Sacred Music from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion and was invested as a cantor in 2008. Previously, Cantor Mutlu served Community Synagogue of Rye, NY, where he established an instrumental ensemble which led monthly musical services with children’s and adult choirs. Cantor Mutlu also served as Professor of Traditional Nusach at Hebrew Union College. An avid composer and arranger, Cantor Mutlu has premiered original works in Boston, Jerusalem and New York.

Cantor Mutlu has sung with a number of premier musical organizations and houses of worship, most notably with the Trinity Choir Wall Street where he received two glowing musical reviews from the New York Times for solo performances as Jephte in Carissimi’s Jephte and as a tenor soloist in Handel’s Messiah. He has worked as a soloist with renowned conductors and is featured as a tenor soloist on the recently released Naxos 8-disc set of The Complete Haydn Masses.
