Park Avenue Synagogue is extremely fortunate to have an ongoing partnership with JTS (The Jewish Theological Seminary of America), the foremost institution of Conservative Judaism. This close relationship greatly enriches our work to create a vital Jewish community.
PAS clergy and staff have been educated at JTS, and JTS faculty frequently offer home study and courses for the PAS Department of Adult Learning.
We launch the organizations that engage others in Jewish life, write the textbooks others learn from, and graduate leaders who become a new creative force for positive change in their careers and communities
JTS is a continuing laboratory for Jewish studies, and its scholarship is of the highest level. Among the PAS clergy and staff who are graduates of the Seminary:
Rabbi Elliot Cosgrove
Rabbi Neil Zuckerman
Rabbi Ethan Witkovsky
Rabbi Charlie Savenor
Cantor Rachel Brook
Rabbi Leah Loeterman, Rabbinical Intern, 2013–2015
Rabbi Brian Wexler, Rabbinical Intern, 2015–2017
Shayna Golkow, Rabbinical Intern, 2017–
Beryl Chernov, Executive Director
Jennifer Stern Granowitz, Director of the Congregational School
Jamie Diamond, Director of Young Family Education
Gail Nalven, Assistant Director of the Congregational School
JTS offers exceptional classes open to the community and taught at JTS and locations throughout the city, including PAS. We have been fortunate to have hosted a range of distinguished JTS scholars:
