Preparing for Pesach


Mekhirat Hametz, Sale of Hametz
Remember to appoint Rabbi Salston as your agent to sell your hametz.
Use the online form for the Authorization to Sell Hametz or download a print version and return it to PAS no later than 7:00 am on Friday April 19, or stop by the reception desk at the Eli M. Black Lifelong Learning Center at 11 E. 89th Street, or at the reception desk at 4 E. 90th Street, and sign the form there.

The Men’s Club is pleased to once again provide an opportunity for the PAS community to order a variety of excellent kosher for Passover wines in time for the seder. Representatives from McCabes Wine and Spirits will be on hand to guide us in choosing wines to serve at the seder and to bring as gifts to hosts. All are welcome. Rabba Yaffa Epstein serves as the Director of Education, North America, for the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies. She received rabbinic ordination from Yeshivat Maharat and holds a law degree from Bar-Ilan Unversity.

The musaf service on the first day of Pesach begins with the cantor's recitation of the hymn Tal, the prayer for dew. Beginning with this service, until the end of Sukkot next fall, we no longer say mashiv ha-ruah u-morid ha-gashem (You cause the wind to blow and the rain to fall) at the start of the Amidah.
