On the 29th of November 1947, the UN General Assembly voted to adopt the Partition Plan recommending the division of Palestine into three parts: an Arab State, a Jewish State, and the City of Jerusalem. Join us on this historic anniversary, for a wide-ranging dialogue on the forces that led to the vote, what it set in motion, and the viability of that vision into the future.

Ambassador Martin Indyk is the Executive Vice President of The Brookings Institution and former US Ambassador to Israel. He served as Special Envoy for Israeli-Palestinian Negotiations.

Richard Haass is President of the Council on Foreign Relations. He served as senior Middle East advisor to President George H.W. Bush and as director of the State Department’s Policy Planning Staff.
