Ta'anit Esther/The Fast of Esther

March 20, 2019 (All day)

The  fast on erev Purim commemorates Esther's fasting when she prepared to go to King Ahashverosh without having been summoned. The Fast of Esther is the only one of the four minor fasts that is not associated with the destruction of the Temple. Like all the other minor fasts, it is a dawn to dark fast, not a 25-hour fast beginning the evening before.

Purim is a time to let our silly selves shine. It is a great source of pride to PAS that the Purim Spiel is our largest intergenerational event held all year. "Multi-generational" describes the audience, and it also describes the performers and the crew.  This year, Esther is going to college, and you can join her at Megillah U!
