This year’s Shabbaton will launch of our yearlong theme: Telling Israel’s Story. Although the State of Israel is 70 years young, the narrative of statehood began more than 70 years ago. Join us as we learn history and hear personal accounts that paint the picture of Israel’s past and future, its internal and external challenges and struggles, and its triumphs.

We will look at Images of Arabs in Jewish Israeli literature and in Arab Israeli literary works. Poems of Yehuda Amichai and Agi Mishol offer conflicting images of friend and foe, while Sami Michael and Emile Habibi present complementary views of life of Jews and Arabs living together on one street in Haifa.
