A Visit to Vilna, The Jerusalem of Lithuania
Mon / Feb 1 / 2:00 pm - 3:15 pm
Daniel Gurevich
Zoom
Explore Vilna, known as “the Jerusalem of Lithuania,” the enchanted city that was once European Jewry's intellectual, spiritual, and political capital. Our journey together will focus on the city's dynamic, painful, and rich history, the enduring legacy of the Vilna Gaon and the contemporary rebirth – albeit sometimes contentious – taking place within the local Jewish community and a city now called Vilnius.
For the past 20 years, Daniel Gurevich has directed Jerulita, a tourist agency based in Vilnius, Lithuania. He also guides groups to the three Baltic states: Belarus, Poland, and Finland. Jewish heritage, religion, history, and contemporary culture are the pillars of his tours, which he conducts in Hebrew, English, Russian, and Lithuanian. Gurevitch guided the PAS group in November 2019.
