Standing Before God: Theology of the High Holidays
Rabbi Shai Held and Rabbi Cosgrove
Thu / Sep 22 / 7:00 pm / 87th Street and Online
The month of Elul, which precedes the High Holidays, is a time of learning and introspection in preparation for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. This year, members of our clergy will join in conversation with scholars from the Hadar Institute to discuss some of the major themes that we encounter over the course of the holidays, and how we can integrate new meaning into our worship and rituals. Stretching from liturgy to Jewish philosophy and back, join in for three conversations that will energize, inspire, and sweeten your high holidays.
Rabbi Shai Held – theologian, scholar, and educator – is President and Dean at Hadar. He holds a doctorate in religion from Harvard; his main academic interests are in modern Jewish and Christian thought, biblical theology, and the history of Zionism.
