Dr. Joy Ladin and Rabbi Cosgrove
Dr. Joy Ladin is an award-winning educator, scholar, and poet. Since coming out as Yeshiva University’s first openly transgender employee in 2008, she has become a nationally recognized speaker on transgender issues. In celebration of Pride Month, Dr. Ladin and Rabbi Cosgrove will discuss gender, faith, and how Jewish communities can affirm diverse identities.
Joy Ladin, the first openly transgender employee of an Orthodox Jewish institution, holds a Ph.D. in American Literature from Princeton University. She has been featured on National Public Radio numerous times with her most notable episode “On Being with Krista Tippet” being rebroadcasted three times. Is the author of nine books of poetry and has an upcoming collection, Shekhinah Speaks in 2022
