Congregational School

Welcome to the PAS Congregational School

Our Goal

Our goal is to engage our students and families in an exciting Jewish community where Judaism comes to life. Through participating in a Jewish community in real time, we build meaningful Jewish identity, knowledge and commitment. Because of Shabbat’s importance in Jewish life, the PAS Congregational school is a Shabbat-centered program.

Overview

Our K-2 program meets once during the week to establish the building blocks of Jewish identity and knowledge; there are optional Shabbat opportunities for K-2 families through the PAS Young Family Education Department. Our 3rd – 5th grade program meets twice a week with Shabbat morning as the central experience. Our 6th and 7th grade program meets Mondays and Wednesdays along with a few Shabbatot during the year in preparation for Bar/Bat Mitzvah. We hope that our learners will continue post-B’nei Mitzvah in the Rabbi Judah Nadich High School.

An Evolving Program

As many of you know, our Congregational School is in a period of transformation. There have already been significant changes in full-time staffing and the overall school structure. Change is an exciting and evolving process and we look forward to your input and feedback during the coming months as the vision and program continue to evolve.

Communication

Families are our partners in creating meaningful, exciting and enduring Jewish learning for our children. Please visit this website and read our handbook to learn about the program, philosophy and policies of our Congregational School. No handbook or website, however, can replace ongoing communication between parents and educators, so please keep in close contact with us so that together we can provide a wonderful Jewish experience for you and your children.

From Rabbi Eve Rudin, Principal

I look forward to an exciting year with all of you in 2011-2012/5772, and I look forward to getting to know you and your families over the coming months!
If you have any questions or special concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me in the Congregational School Office. L’Shalom!
